Pierre Legault (1929-1983) was a talented designer and a pioneer of modern pottery in Quebec. He was a cofounder of SIAL and SIAL 2 companies (1974 - 1981) where he created designs and stoneware dinnerware patterns among which this beautiful coffee set pattern. This remarkable piece is a great classic of Quebec and Canada pottery design. It is highly collectible. The stoneware set is complete with 4 cups or mugs, sugar dish with lid, creamer and coffee pot with lid. The colors of the mugs are darker than those of the serving pieces. The handles and coffee pot spout have fluid and elegant lines. Lid knobs are hollow and not too heavy. Mugs are all marked Sial 2 and P.L for Pierre Legault. Sugar dish is marked Sial 2 and Made in Canada. The other pieces are unmarked.

Dimensions: The coffee pot contains approx. five 250 mL cups. It is 10" or 25,5 cm tall with lid. Sugar dish is 11 cm or 4 1/4" tall and 12,5 cm or 5" across at the top and the bottom. Mugs and creamer are 11 cm or 4 1/4" tall and can contain 250 to 275 mL of liquid.
Condition: Very good vintage condition. The creamer has a small chip that might be due to the manufacturing process.
